In a chapel in Lindon, Utah, not far from Chelsea and Lane's home, we gathered to participate in the naming and blessing of little Ellie. All of our children were there along with some very good friends. It was a very happy occasion. Hard to imagine that just a few short years ago, it seemed as if the sun would never shine again. Tragedy and trial had brought heavy burdens and grief. As we sang the opening song...."I know that my Redeemer lives", I could not help but weep. He is my "kind, wise, heavenly friend" who has lifted my burdens and at times carried me as well. How blessed and enriched our lives have become. This is now Easter Week, when all of Christendom celebrates the the resurrection. I add my voice to the angelic message heard first at the empty tomb...."He is not hear...He is Risen."Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-83220862335549516692010-02-27T08:42:00.001-08:002010-02-27T08:48:45.727-08:00FebruaryWell. I made a goal to write something on this at least once a month. Tomorrow is the last day of the month and so while I have a moment:
I am working hard on a new venture with my friend Bob. We have know each other for 30 years (missionary companions). It is a lot of work and a huge commitment. Hopefully the payoffs will be there in the end.
Raye continues to work at Clear Horizons...a very taxing assignment. The only thing is she really does love the kids she works with.
The kids, are all busy with school and activities etc. I will fill in the details next time.
Chelsea and Lane delivered us a new grandchild, Ellie Mae (enough with the Clampett jokes). See Chelsea's blog for the details.Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-10740554567059537782010-01-31T20:36:00.000-08:002010-01-31T20:37:52.516-08:00I heard this today at ChurchMany of us take the blessings of the gospel for granted. It is as if we are passengers on the train of the Church, which has been moving forward gradually and methodically. Sometimes we have looked out the window and thought, “That looks kind of fun out there. This train is so restrictive.” So we have jumped off and gone and played in the woods for a while. Sooner or later we find it isn’t as much fun as Lucifer makes it appear or we get critically injured, so we work our way back to the tracks and see the train ahead. With a determined sprint we catch up to it, breathlessly wipe the perspiration from our forehead, and thank the Lord for repentance.

While on the train we can see the world and some of our own members outside laughing and having a great time. They taunt us and coax us to get off. Some throw logs and rocks on the tracks to try and derail it. Other members run alongside the tracks, and while they may never go play in the woods, they just can’t seem to get on the train. Others try to run ahead and too often take the wrong turn.

I would propose that the luxury of getting on and off the train as we please is fading. The speed of the train is increasing. The woods are getting much too dangerous, and the fog and darkness are moving in. (Glen L. Mom and Dad came out on the 15th and we have enjoyed having them here with us. They are returning to NC tomorrow and we will really miss them. Karl and Diana visited for a few days from Pennsylvania and that was nice as well. The Sunday before Christmas, we went to the Conference Center for the Tabernacle Choir Broadcast. It was a special treat for my parents. We have enjoyed all of the days filled with family and friends. (One family actually has a contest and weighs the teenagers before and after to see who gains the most)

So...At 4:00 in the morning, the day after Thanksgiving it starts. "Gary, can you go to Wal Mart and get this (secret item)?" Really!! So, off to the store I go. I had not ventured out on Black Friday before and boy was I in for a shock. The parking lot was full, the street was full, the bank across the way was full and the school parking lot was beginning to fill.

Luckily, the one thing I was there for, was still available. Picked it up, waited in line, checked out and was back in bed by 5:45. It wasn't nearly as unpleasant as I thought it would be.

After needed rest, took Caleb to the golf course and played the back nine. Elder Bednar wrote the text, Robert Condick the arrangment and the Orchestra and Chior from BYU-Idaho perfomred. It was a delight.

WORK RELATED ISSUES
The last 12 months have brought many changes at work. I have been with Qwest for 12 years and have a wonderful position, which allows me to work from home and set my own schedule. Rumors are, these days are coming to an end. I have seen many colleagues loose their positions and it looks like my group may be next. Official word is expected to come before December 1st. I am already working on the next plan. Stay tuned.

FAMILY DRAMA
So, over the course of many years we have had Thanksgiving with lots of extended family...often in very cramped and uncomfortable quarters. No one's fault...just the family keeps getting bigger. Raye and I decided to do a smaller (of course with 7 children, 4 grandchildren, and spouses, the term "smaller" is relative)Thanksgiving this year, and invited one other family to join us. We were surprised by the drama this decision caused.

MISSIONARY IN THE MTC
It was nice to have my brother Skip, his wife Janet and their new missionary son Jared here for a few days. Jared wanted to go through the Salt Lake Temple prior to going to the MTC, so on Tuesday, we did. It was a great day. After he went into the MTC on Wednesday, Skip and I got away for 18 holes of golf. I wish they did not live so far away. We look forward to regular updates from Elder Yarn in southern California.Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-8787085982963185352009-10-18T20:34:00.001-07:002009-10-18T21:01:20.082-07:00Fall Break<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx1K6eFyVtVk39t2zbusDKd2ezszKpBYNaRi87tU4IDkInsLa7oYBgH1CUY54VtTEUpxzVI-NO6oXZkLCwS3XHqeWaxZffOOU3ftGOZcgXcq8CjOR6Pt8nZBLFSb9Y7vWgCp06_lpxjW-Y/s200/DSCF0066.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394152494731470178" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVXCNo8hYyiqQEXO3Cyh7L-e6mCUOtgWru59afHDqAqh2PRZauOy6SpKz7rhSrFUAwHmUkSU9j-pzzRDE5uxHAExmUoUJP5T8oIKXfx3Cw5H_vml0I9ceAts02BClNWJGm3jIFeusVlfQN/s200/DSCF0062.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394152485973840418" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqYStY9f08YZNtV42o1rxRfgJ9sntNXahr6jzFy1WMRQl5_VsCxHHUakbS0Ol9GeF8jfREBc5OlcNr0Tneqa1OezRPjAcbcAtKK8vBG4rqpRYz3m_hNCN0XkHUpCMknXjeAptvFXdJ3DxI/s200/DSCF0069.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394152477047206354" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpKZZI0ho3QKgEi53DG6sMxuDEyxW4ap6jMzlf7AGLkSL3SHcOjV3KbQMkzAtUAAnAMcbg-deArSV7B0fcbvhQ4fQ1MYt_Ay9zWERbsJZTAH624HfIEUbugn7WSF_OH3HrwqRIzaJfbvhh/s200/DSCF0056.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394152469915766194" />

Since Raye's school did not have the same schedule as the rest of the county, we did not go anywhere during the school break. I was assigned to be their home teacher a few months ago and have enjoyed visiting them. Raye is also her visiting teacher and a counselor in the RS and as such, sees them more than I do. She was very instrumental in getting them to allow the ward to bring in meals a few times per week. They were very reluctant to accept any help at first. This has however been a great blessing. Many members of the ward have gotten to know and love them and visa versa.

This last week was designated for our ward as "A Week of Service" with many projects taking place. Raye had to head up all of the projects and was very involved. A lot of good things were accomplished. A few sisters who had gotten to know the Webbs, decided it would be nice to do a home "make over". Sister Webb's bedroom was and an office was re-made. The rooms were painted, curtains made and hung, new furniture provided, new bedding for the hospital bed and a collection was taken in order to provide a beautiful picture of the Savior for the bedroom. Raye had spent a few nights working with others on this, but as the project was winding down, there were several tasks still to be done.

So...Saturday afternoon as our children and grandchildren had gathered at our home to celebrate, what would have been Becca's 17th birthday, we all realized our assistance was needed. Our children were so eager to pitch in. Chelsea, Lane, Kristina, Caleb, Abby, Raye and I were put to work on some of the finishing touches (setting up a mini fridge, cutting and hanging blinds, stenciling patterns on the wall, hanging the picture and cleanup). We had a good time together and were glad to be asked to help out. We especially loved the look on Sister Webb's face, as her new bedroom, was presented to her.

The entire week was wonderful for all involved.Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-62835660490351620572009-10-06T21:42:00.001-07:002009-10-06T22:54:23.225-07:00Our Family Motto: "Just Love"Some years ago, a woman came to me for some advice. We had known her for a long time and watched as a difficult marriage ended in divorce. She did the best she could with her children, but her youngest, a daughter was struggling and now found herself pregnant. I remember the anguish of this mother as she told me about her daughter and her concerns. "What am I going to do with her?" she asked. Without a conscience thought, the following words came out of my mouth:, "Just love her, sin has its own consequences, just love."

Later that night these word would not leave me....just love. Sin does have its own cosequenses, and I knew that over the course of my life, love many times had given way to the passing of judgement. Wounds that could have been healed with love, had been made to sting all the more, because I had chosen a lower path.

For several days, Raye and I discussed the exchange I had with this sister about her child. We decided to incorperatre what we had learned and make it our family motto. We discussed how true desciplship comes not in loving those in whom we see good, that's easy, but in loving those in whom we see the "not so good." With our own family members and others, we have learned that pursuasion, long suffering, gentleness, meekness, and love unfeigned coupled with kindess, pure knowledge, charity and virtuous living (D&C 121) are the real keys. I really appreciated Pres Uchtdorf's talk in conference on love and discipleship. http://lds.org/conference/sessions/display/0,5239,23-1-1117,00.html)

And I am really grateful for that moment a few years ago, when, while counseling another, I was instructed as well...."SIN HAS ITS OWN CONSEQUENCES....JUST LOVE"Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-40256339632616143152009-10-06T06:16:00.000-07:002009-10-06T06:38:20.287-07:00We Love Conference WeekendFor as long as I can remember, we have always enjoyed Conference Weekend. When we lived in Massachusetts, we would pack a lunch and travel up to the Stake Center in Nashua, NH and make a day of it. Wherever we have lived, we have made it a point to attend as many sessions as possible. We have enjoyed the opportunity of sitting in the Tabernacle and Conference Centers for many sessions. But like most of you, we now don't even have to leave the home (except for Priesthood Meeting).

For the past several years, we have started a new tradition of making breakfast on Sunday and having all of the kids and grandkids over, and even some extended family. This was an idea we got from Dave and Bobbi Beagley and we have Incorporated into our lives. This morning I was thinking about all of the work and sacrifice it takes to raise a large family....but these things pale in comparison to the blessing and joy they are to us now.

Conference was wonderfully edifying and instructive. It has provided us with a feast that we can enjoy for a long time. I love being able to download the entire sessions to my MP3 player and listen to them over and over. Some of the greatest spiritual insights and personal revelations that I have received, have come while on a long hike or traveling or lying in bed at night. Doctrine and Covenants 121 promises that "the doctrine of the Priesthood shall distill upon your soul as the dews from heaven..." Gratefully I have found this to be the case as I listen to, study and apply the messages from the leaders of the Church.Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-4276984465433630402009-09-22T15:15:00.000-07:002009-09-22T18:26:03.613-07:00Saturday Night Phone Calls...What a BlessingI should have learned this lesson a long time ago....late Saturday night phone calls usually mean one thing...."Teach my lesson, please?"

And so....I was able to teach priesthood this last Sunday. Topic: "Family: The sweetest union for time and eternity." What a great thought. It brought to my memory something that happened 3 years ago. Jordan had just turned 8 and it was his baptismal day. This was in Septmeber and had been a little more than a year since we lost Becca. We all were accutely aware that our family was not complete with her absence. As we were in the chapel, listening to the special music that was being provided, I had the distinct feeling that she was there. No, it was more than a feeling. It was real and I knew she was present. In my mind, somewhat surprised to feel her presence, I exclaimed, "Becca, you're here." Her reply came to as if I could hear her voice, "Dad, I will be at all of the big events, we're family." Tears filled my eyes and warmth filled my heart. The words, "Dad, ... we're family", resonated deeply.

Grateful for the tender mercies of the Lord and eager to share this with the rest of the family, I could not wait to get home. To my delight, Kristina, who was in tears throughout the baptismal service, had already spread the news. "Did anyone else feel Becca's presence today?" she asked as soon as we walked in the door. Continuing, she related, "She was definitely there, I felt her and could not stop crying!"

I have asked myself many times, what is a "big event"? Perhaps if I knew, I could selfishly plan them more frequently and enjoy having her with us more often. We miss her so much. I have, however, settled upon the idea, that perhaps any event in the family, where covenants are made and ordinances preformed, would qualify as "big event" from an eternal perspective. I now look forward to every such occasion, with a little more anticipation than normal...and so far, have not been disappointed.Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-63714025461768025752009-09-17T20:47:00.000-07:002009-09-17T21:36:45.332-07:00Another Sad DayLast Saturday morning as Raye and I were still lounging around, my cell phone rang. My friend Jeff called to let us know that some friends of ours were traveling to St George, when a truck heading north on I-15 suddenly lost control and crossed the median striking their van. Nyal, the father, did not survive. We were heartbroken to hear the news. Our thoughts were turned to Katie and the boys. It is so, so painful to go through such a thing, and yet, there comes with this, the sweet reassurance that "all is well". Nyal will be missed by all who knew him, and he will be able to touch many who will come to know him through his surviving family.

I wanted desperately to be at the viewing and funeral and tell Katie personally how I felt, but I had a committment in Denver that simply could not be rescheduled. Raye was able to attend both and spoke with her. We know some of what she will now face and hope we will be able to support her through this. Grieving is such a loney and isolating road. For us, the journey was made easier by so many good friends who showed up at just the right moment or said the right thing, or simply put an arm around us when we most needed it. I know Katie will have this too.

As for Nyal, he was a good man. I often heard him bear his testimony and was always touched by his sincerity and the spirit which accompanied it. I have been to scout camp and other outings and watched him in amazement. He was the outdoorsman, I never was, but wished I could be. He talked often of his time in Croatia as a missionary and I reminded him that during my time, Yugoslavia was part of the Vienna Austria mission which I served in. I often joked that we served in the same mission. I have been in leadership meetings with him and was always impressed with how he conducted himself and carried out his duties. Vocationally, Nyal was an attorney, and after working as a prosecutor, recently worked as a criminal defense lawyer. I was always intersted in his work and had read an article about a difficult case he had. This case surrounded a fatal car accident involving a teenage boy and his mother and a toddler. I asked him often about this case and though he could never disclose the details that were not public, the conversations always left me with an impression of the level of compassion he personally felt for those involved. It truly was a sad case.

And now, his own demise comes at the hand of a teenage driver. I know Nyal would want us to include this young man in our thoughts and prayers as well. That was just the kind of man he was.Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-7313997012703763272009-07-04T12:20:00.000-07:002009-09-22T15:59:09.856-07:00Where Has the Time Gone?<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTyrM7pF0s1USlzkR42nqsOKaemSc7KvuKqAbOKk_MNObBv3OCQZeFbC5LlPGTNpLEsHT7L_ZHBeB1bzILM6ODrz3bZDsaSAZZweJK11SfLYU-lxE2rdcRuCwAtn0KAXYjpQDojhlkAw_B/s200/DSCF0097.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354751900523857890" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2-3OerTXm4gW8MfwD9HRNy5vJwaKCZ-EELyWlVG5OFfvZX0Y_UsO6cJwOBdNoTsO_4-iajHcVvY7bfxz4v5vUstugNvP5cTFwWLxjlvZAT7Wiku7-R1xvy0lCQtRhMQJ3hpL0MNxUNUh4/s200/DSCF0103.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354751894542542866" />
Man, have we neglected our poor blog. It looks like life just got in the way.

Raye's dad passed (May 6th) away after a long battle. It was hard to see him suffer so much and was a blessing and a relief to see him go. Raye (and the girls) spent a tremendous amount of time visiting with him and caring for him. One day, toward the end, Chelsea and Lane were visiting and called and said that we should get there now. A blessing was given, followed by another the next day and he passed away shortly afterwards. Funerals are never great, but it was wonderful to have all of the family come into town. I counted one night, we had 46 people at our house. The service was held in Payson and he was buried in Pleasant Grove, next to Mark and only a few feet away from our beautiful Becca.

Jessica graduated from PG High and it was a great day for all of us. She looked splendid in her cap and gown and thanks to her friend Amy, made it through without a hitch. In June she was asked by the Miss Pleasant Grove people if she would ride in the Strawberry Days Parade on the float with them. It was awesome!! She was dressed in white with a crown on her head and doing the pageant "wave" all along the parade route. We are constantly overwhelmed by the goodness of the people around her.

This summer has been one of surprises. Laura spent some time in North Carolina with her beau. He will be a senior at BYU this fall and is working in the Raleigh area for the summer. In order to save money, she purchased a stand-by ticket. If anyone is ever considering such a cost saving move...please talk to her first.

Kristina and Aaron and the boys have been in Kansas for some time working with Raye's brother Rick. We thought they would only be staying a short while. If Raye has to go very much longer without seeing Ty and Zack...there may be a problem.

Chelsea and Lane went to Bear Lake with Lane's family for the 4th and so it is kind of lonely around here. Laura took Caleb, Jessie, Jordan and Abby to the movies this afternoon and we are not used to the quiet. Jordan, Abby and I went fishing this morning (caught nothing) and we will fire up the grill later and cook ribs before going to see fireworks.

Happy 4th to all...Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-69845222478002497962009-01-12T21:24:00.000-08:002009-01-12T21:37:40.753-08:00Back to Work-School etc.Well, we've been back at it for a week now. It sure was nice to have so much time off together. It has been hard to get back into the routine. Laura has been going to beauty school and working. Jordyn started a nursing program at Provo College and is working. Raye is back working with the autistic and I am out of vacation time. Saturday, Caleb had a rec ball game as well as a church game, Jordan had a rec game and Jessica played with the Young Women. Afterwards Raye and I did a little house hunting. (Just in case we do not buy the one we are in) So much for a slow weekend. To top it all off, Abby has been running a high temp and stayed in bed all weekend long. Both of Chelsea's kids are under the weather. Life is good and it seems, "is back to normal"!! So much to do and so little time/energy.Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-43278092714924041272008-12-29T21:30:00.000-08:002008-12-29T21:31:29.186-08:00Winter Wonderland !!

Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-22459009567314738292008-12-29T19:25:00.000-08:002008-12-29T21:14:06.730-08:00Christmas We had a wonderful Christmas! Lots of music and family time. We had tickets to the First Presidency's Christmas Fireside as well as the Sunday morning Tabernacle Choir Broadcast and Christmas Concert. This was quite a feat, in that tickets are pretty much a lottery these days. You simply go to lds.org, sign up and your name goes into a lottery, if you get picked, you get tickets. We signed up for everything. Next year we would really love to see the play "The Light of the World", but we are not complaining....we got more than we thought we would.

Today we went sledding, had a great time. As day turned to night, a wonderful sunset occurred so we took some pictures..... We sure love spending time together and wish all of our extended family could be here. Our niece Jordyn, who lives with us, is pictured as well as Jordan's friend Tanner from next door. Chelsea, Lane, Nikki and Carter were greatly missed.

We wish you all a Happy New Year and pray for your continued good health and prosperity.

Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-30387316234296111892008-12-29T19:17:00.000-08:002008-12-29T19:25:14.427-08:00Update on Grandpa LudwigIt has been a while since we have posted anything...the holidays, illness and overall preoccupation with life. Shortly after the last post, we were indeed able to have Raye's dad come and spend some time with over the Thanksgiving weekend. It was great. For the most part, he was coherent, and really not much of a problem at all. It was good for the grandkids to be able to spend some quality time with him. We played board games, told stories, and just had a good time.
Soon after returning home, he took a turn for the worse. He was having difficulty breathing and had to be admitted to the hospital. While in ICU, tests revealed that in addition to his late stage Parkinson's, he is riddled with cancer..inoperable. He has not been home since. Leaving the hospital, he has been in a rehab center and will perhaps be able to go home soon. The experts give him less than 6 months. Sad for us, but we have been able to visit him almost every day. Some days he is better than others. We will keep you posted.Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-28989958527074408502008-11-23T14:05:00.000-08:002008-11-23T14:38:55.615-08:00Grandpa Ludwig

As long as I can remember, Raye's father has suffered with Parkinson's Disease. It started with tremors and has progressed now to the point where he needs help to do even even the most basic things. About 6 months ago it also began to effect his mind. He sees and hears things that aren't there and conversations with him take unexpected turns.

He is now 82, still at home and recieves hospice care. I am glad that we are as close as we are and that Raye can spend time with him. This week he fell and we thought he may have broken some ribs. The xrays were negative, but the pain has rendered him even less mobile than before. To complicate matters, he has developed pnuemonia. If he improves, we are hoping to have him stay with us next weekend so that Betty can get a break. We hope that his remaining days, however long that may be, will be as comfortable as possible and filled with love.

Gary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-19644978409161275272008-11-19T23:16:00.000-08:002008-11-19T23:48:14.045-08:00Busy, Busy, BusyIt seems like life has been going too fast. I really do want to keep up with this blogging thing but find it difficult to put into words the feelings I have. Raye is the Enrichment Leader in our Ward and is putting together a ward dinner this Friday night. Since we did not have our H.P. Social this year, I thought it would be a good idea to combine the two activities...she thought so too. As a result, I am now in charge of the program for the evening and am trying to put a video together of members in the ward. I guess I forgot how much time and effort went into the Family Reunion video that I did....and this one is even harder...oh well.

The Temple is closed for cleaning and I had the opportunity to go over and do my part this evening. I was part of a team that assemblied a large chandelier in one of the sealing rooms, also worked in the kitchen. I kept thinking of the sacred experience it is to be in the Lord's House and I thought if the early pioneers who sacrificed so much in time and means to the building of these holy places. I also thought of those who recently stood outside some of these temples and behaved unseemly....if they only knew. Raye and I try to get to the Temple often and someday, we hope to spend a lot more time there.

Tonight, when I got home Caleb was typing away at the computer. I did not know what he was working on...some sort of school assignment. When he was ready to go to bed....he tried to print..but there was a problem. He saved it and went to bed. I thought I would be nice and print it for him. Boy was I surprised by what he had written. I guess, he was to write a paper along the lines of....What makes Caleb who he is?

For 3 years and 4 months, he has said very little about the accident. In this paper it was all there. I would feel badly if I put the entire thing on here, without his permission, so I will just give you a taste..writing of the funeral he says, "There was a prayer, church music, and speeches, hugs everywhere, tears of joy and sadness. Everyone had a good/bad time. It was a great experience.

Raye immediately said...we have underestimated him.

Hope everyone is having a great week...............GaryGary and Rayehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08770019970766492986noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236969738970571482.post-20574524903729188692008-11-05T18:45:00.000-08:002008-11-05T19:29:56.588-08:00The Power of MusicChelsea has been teaching us how to get this site going. We added some music tonight. While we were searching for the right tracks, Chelsea and I talked about the way music has helped us. I cannot imagine facing the trials of life without good, uplifting music to ease the way. For us, it has been a precious gift.
